Facilities: Singapore's Changi Airport

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!

Have you guys ever wonder about Singapore's famous airport? I will take yes for the answer because I absolutely confident that Singapore Changi Airport is well-known to everyone. Wait, you want to know why? Well let me tell you about Singapore's most famous facilities!

SINGAPORE'S CHANGI AIRPORT

Singapore Changi Airport, commonly known as Changi Airport is a major civilian airport that serves Singapore, and is one of the largest transportation hubs in Asia. It is currently rated the World's Best Airport by Skytrax for the eighth consecutive year since 2013.
It is the first Airport in the world to do so for eight consecutive years, and is one of the world's busiest airports by international passenger and cargo traffic. The airport is located in Changi, at the eastern end of Singapore, approximately 20 km  from Marina Bay (Singapore's Downtown Core). The airport is operated by Changi Airport Group and it is the home base of Singapore Airlines, Singapore Airlines Cargo, SilkAir, Scoot, Jetstar Asia Airways and BOC Aviation.
In 2019, Changi served 68.3 million passengers, making it the 18th busiest airport in the world. Changi Airport serves more than 100 airlines flying to 380 cities in around 100 countries and territories worldwide, as of 31 December 2019. About 7,400 flights arrive or depart at Changi each week, about one every 80 seconds.
The airport has won over 620 awards since its opening, including 28 "Best Airport" awards in 2019 alone. Changi Airport's efforts to mitigate the effects of ageing infrastructure include continual physical upgrades to its existing terminals and building new facilities to maintain its high standards in airport service quality.

Sunflower Garden

Changi may be one of the busiest airports in the world, but that doesn’t mean you can’t commune with nature while you're there. Pockets of lush greenery are scattered through each of its three terminals, all easily reached by the airport’s Sky Train.
Terminal 1 boats a rooftop cactus garden with 100 species of cacti and succulents from Africa and the Americas.
Terminal 2 has a sunflower garden on its roof, where you can pretend you’re in Tuscany as aircraft take off and land in front of you. Back inside T2, there’s an orchid garden featuring rare orchids and hybrids, including the seasonal display of Singapore's national flower - the Vanda Miss Joaquim - and the airport’s very own Dendrobium Changi Airport orchid.
Head to Terminal 3 to discover the Butterfly Garden. With a profusion of flowering plants, lush greenery and a 6 metre grotto-waterfall, it’s home to over 1,000 tropical butterflies from as many as 40 different species. More information
Finally, the newly opened, $1.3 billion Jewel Changi Airport ‘sanctuary’ will offer even more nature experiences for travellers come June 2019, including:
  • Canopy Park and Canopy Bridge, with its ‘animal’-packed Topiary Walk
  • Shiseido Forest Valley, a lush green retreated with half-hour walking trails
  • Petal Garden, filled with more gorgeous flower and fauna to admire.

Jewel Changi Airport Canopy Maze
Get delightfully ‘lost’ in the Canopy Mazes, which feature two different maze concepts - the hedge maze and the mirror maze. Standing on top of the watch tower in the hedge maze, visitors can help guide others who are making their way through the maze. The mirror maze will be the first-of-its-kind to be built in a garden environment, and cleverly uses mirrors to make navigation a challenge for visitors.

Slides

Changi Airport actually has an even bigger slide in Terminal 3, which is often called the “world’s tallest slide within an airport.” The slide is 12 meters (about 39 feet) high and spans four stories that run from Level 1 to Basement 3. It’s unclear how tall the slide in Terminal 4 is.
In order to gain access to either of these slides, passengers must spend $10 at any restaurant or retail shop in Changi Airport — which honestly seems like an easy thing to do. Just grab yourself some lunch or a travel pillow and you’re off.
If we had to choose between plain old escalators or stairs and a slide, we’d definitely choose a slide every time. Who knows, it might also be a good solution for people who are habitually late.

Waterfall

Changi Airport of Singapore has literally added a sparkling jewel in its crown! Well, we are talking about the latest addition at the airport, ‘Jewel’ which is an engineering marvel spread over 135,700 sqm complex built on the site of the former Terminal 1 open air car park.

The main attraction at the Jewel is a ‘HSBC Rain Vortex’ which is the world's tallest indoor waterfall. It is a spectacular sight with 10,000 gallons of water rushing through roof per minute. The entire structure is a distinctive dome shaped facade made of glass and steel which blends gardens, attractions activity areas, retail, dining and much more.

That's all for my entry today. Hope you guys enjoyed reading my entry today! Have a nice day everyone
